Glycylcycline antibiotic – a derivative of tetracycline.

3.      Community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP) in certain cases

It is often reserved for infections caused by resistant bacteria, including MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus).

Tigimax 50mg Injection is an antibiotic injection whose active ingredient is tigecycline. It belongs to the glycylcycline class of antibiotics. It’s typically used for serious bacterial infections that require hospital treatment and should be administered only under medical supervision.

·         Tigecycline works by blocking the synthesis of essential proteins in bacteria, which stops bacterial growth and helps eliminate the infection.

·         It is broad-spectrum (acts against many types of bacteria) and is often reserved for complicated or resistant infections.

This injection is generally used for serious bacterial infections, including:
✅ Complicated skin and soft tissue infections
✅ Complicated intra-abdominal infections
✅ Sometimes severe pneumonia caused by bacteria (depending on doctor’s judgment)

Your doctor decides the dose and duration based on the specific infection, severity, and your overall health.

·         Not for self-use: Must be given by a healthcare professional (IV infusion).

·         Allergies: Avoid if you’re allergic to tigecycline or related antibiotics (like tetracyclines).

·         Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Use only if clearly needed and as advised by a doctor.

·         Children: Not recommended for children under 8 years — may affect teeth and bone growth.

·         Liver/Kidney issues: Use with caution and adjust dose if needed.

     You may experience:
• Nausea, vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Headache
• Injection site discomfort
• Abnormal liver function tests
• Dizziness/headache

If you notice severe symptoms (e.g., rash, difficulty breathing, severe diarrhoea with blood, jaundice), seek urgent medical help.

·         This medicine doesn’t treat viral infections (like the common cold or flu).

·         Always complete the full course as prescribed — stopping early may lead to resistance or recurren
